TARIC codes

Introduction

TARIC (Integrated Community Tariff) codes are a 10-digit numerical sequence used to classify products imported or exported within the European Union. These codes are essential for calculating customs duties, applying any special tax regimes and complying with European and national trade regulations.

Each part of the code has a specific function:

  • The first six digits identify the product worldwide (HS code).
  • The next two numbers indicate the applicable duties.
  • The last two digits indicate any special rules .

TARIC codes are mainly used by economic operators who trade goods with countries outside the EU or between Member States, such as importers, exporters and companies that produce or distribute products.
